Ready To Try Something Different?

Does the idea of trying new things, or trying something in a new way, seem scary to you? If it does then maybe that’s a window of opportunity you are potentially missing.

We’ve all heard the saying that if it doesn’t challenge you it doesn’t change you.

Well, here is that window of opportunity… trying something new or something in a new way may seem scary to you based on past experiences or present circumstances. However, if we take a moment to flip the script, what may first seem “scary” could actually become exciting.

Think about it. You try to do something, lose weight, exercise more, eat better, drink less pop, eat less sugar, read more, get organized, do a budget… all those things that we have all tried in the past or are trying now, in the midst of a pandemic. Let’s face it, it’s hard. And it’s hard to muster up the courage to try and try again when we’ve had limited success in the past. And, if that’s the way it’s always been or always gone, then that’s clearly the way it’s always going to be… right?!

We control our choices, our attitudes and our efforts. So, if we CHOOSE to keep trying things the same way and expecting a different outcome…

My guess is you’ve probably heard that one before too. IT’S TRUE THOUGH! If you keep trying things the same way, or the same things, over and over, and somehow expect the outcome to change just because of a little extra hope or pixie dust you found somewhere, that’s insanity. For a little dose of reality and how maybe shifting your mindset a bit towards the experimental mindset, check out this great article by Michael Hyatt on the topic: A Key Mindset to Achieve More. It’s a pretty quick read and it really helps to put things into perspective and a new light.

If we start to view things differently, seeing opportunities instead of obstacles, we start to achieve some different outcomes. Some will work. Some won’t. Some will work really well. Others, not so much. But it’s the idea of trying something new or in a new way that can get you out of your comfort zone and into something GREATER!

We like to have clients try new things in their movement training like Small Group Training or using Kettlebells and Sandbags over more traditional equipment like barbells and dumbbells. For nutrition, you can try an experiment day where you fast, eat Paleo or plant-based for a day and see how you feel. It’s trying something new.

For your mindset, try experimenting! ;) With recovery try going to bed earlier or turning off all electronics 2 hours before bedtime (hey, it’s an experiment, give it a try once. You might find out you don’t actually go completely crazy after all!).

Give it a shot! Then give us a shout and let us know how it goes - what did you try, why did you try it, how did it go, would you do it again, what would you do differently… let us know! We’d love to hear from you and hear how we can help you!

So go try something new today, just one small thing! Then, repeat it and see how it can lead to BIG changes and a whole new mindset!
